CONSEQUENCES OF NEW PASS/FAIL GRADING
Whether delivered as In Person or Live Online, all WOLFPACC USMLE prep programs are designed around four-week, live-lecture Medical Boards Review courses that are supplemented by intensive tutoring sessions. Moreover, our one-on-one approach is facilitated by an MD or DO who has been through the WOLFPACC program.
Medical students can now be enrolled in classroom training without ever leaving their home. Given the current Covid 19 concerns, our online USMLE/COMLEX prep courses let you enjoy the same amazing lectures presented by the staff of WOLFPACC. Since our online courses are delivered open mic, you can stop the instructor anytime you need material clarified. Conversely, the program works in reverse where you will be called upon by the instructor from time to time.
“As I tell students all the time, it is not necessary to know everything. But there are some things that you have to know in order to figure out everything else,” says Dr. Wolf. “Time is a medical student’s most precious commodity. Therefore, it is imperative that he or she is taught how to decide what information is actually important, and what information can be derived.”
Although well-intentioned, changing USMLE Step 1 to pass/fail may prove to have confusing consequences for medical students both at home and internationally. As for Step 1, the content that is tested is the scientific foundations of medicine so there is still a lot of work to be done on the student’s part. Any preconceived notion that a USMLE pass/ fail exam will be easier is false and could lead to a higher fail rate among students who are ill prepared. In addition, students run the risk of depleting the number of attempts allowed, which have been reduced from six opportunities to pass the exam to only four attempts.
There is also some trickle-down effect to be considered as well. Under the new guidelines, if a student receives a passing score on the Step 1 exam, they will not receive content-based feedback on their test performance. This could lead to a tendency among students to misinterpret their passing grade as having a stronger baseline and foundation for passing USMLE Step 2 CK, which may result in a higher failure rate. Where Step 1 is just one of three required USMLE licensure exams, Step 2 (CK) and Step 3 will continue to be evaluated with a three-digit numerical score, so Step 2 scores could be relied on more heavily for future applications for residency.
What does all of this mean in the end? Medical students should prepare for the Step 1 like their professional lives depend on it. After all, the amount of material covered by the exam has not changed, at all. So, the importance of participating in a USMLE Pass/Fail prep review course is even greater for marginal students or those who do not test well. Moreover, students will now need to evaluate and consider ways to improve their three-digit Step 2 and Step 3 scores, such as attending WOLFPACC’s series of review courses that may help them stand out from others. After all, nothing about Step 1 pass/fail scoring changes the fact that becoming a good doctor starts with the knowledge and application of the basic sciences.

Dr. Hans Wolf was the first educator to establish a USMLE or COMLEX review program that offered an iron clad 8-Week Guarantee to students taking their board exams. Other programs have started to catch on, but WOLFPACC has always been the program that allows students to come back for free should they not pass their exam. Our hands-on approach, one-on-one tutoring, small class size, and structured environment are keys to our student’s success. WOLFPACC does not discriminate against language barriers, learning disabilities or anxiety disorders that may have contributed to a failing USLME or COMLEX score. We are committed to all of our students regardless of the medical school they are attending. Our staff never takes a one-size-fits-all approach and programs are personalized to each incoming student’s strengths and weaknesses to yield a more confident and competent doctor.
Brief intro about USMLE PREP REVIEW
USMLE Step 1 examination has over 300 multiple-choice test items. The test day is divided into seven sixty-minute blocks and administered in one eight-hour testing session. During the defined time to complete the items in each Step 1 block, you may answer the questions in any order, then review your responses, and change answers as needed. After you exit a given block, or once time expires, you can no longer review test items or change answers.
WOLFPACC’s POWER 5 approach is designed to teach a major system and then correlate it to the previous one presented. Applying this methodology takes the memorization out of medicine. Our staff shows you how all the organs are connected through physiology. As you complete each week of the program, you will gain important knowledge as you learn how to apply it. Our methodology allows you to gain total command of the material presented and students truly enjoy this unique learning experience.
Since live lectures are taught in a very interactive manner, it means students are inspired to connect by openly asking questions and being involved in discussions. Our approach removes the repetitive nature of most prep programs by replacing a passive learning style with active participation. Students are also taught concepts, retention techniques, and elements of clinical thinking, rather than memorization.

Brief intro about COMLEX PREP REVIEW
WOLFPACC provides everything today’s student needs to score well on the COMLEX medical board exams. The Level 1 exam is the first step taken by medical students and graduates seeking to practice medicine in the United States as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). The purpose of the COMLEX Level 1 Prep Preview is to boost an individual’s basic science knowledge. The Level 1 is a multiple choice exam and is organized into general science principles and individual organ systems. There is strong emphasis placed on the application of basic science principles as they apply to the practice of clinical medicine.
Our live lectures are taught in a very interactive manner. This means that students are inspired to openly ask questions and participate in discussion of the material presented. Our approach removes the repetitive nature of most Level 1 preparation programs and the passive learning style used by other companies. Rather than focusing on memorization, our students are taught concepts, retention techniques, and clinical thinking. We provide everything a student needs to pass the COMLEX Level 1 with high scores and succeed as a physician.
The POWER 5 methodology is designed to teach a medical system and then correlate it to the previous one presented. Using this approach, our staff takes the memorization out of medicine and shows you how all the organs are connected through physiology. As you complete each week of COMLEX prep program, you will gain not only knowledge and how to apply it but will truly enjoy the learning experience. Our approach allows you to have total command of the material in each medical situation as presented.

Through our unique approach, WOLFPACC’s USMLE and COMLEX preparation courses do not rely on a medical student’s short-term memory and skills at memorization. Instead, Dr. Wolf and his staff teach you how to think your way through each question and identify the correct answer. By utilizing proven concepts to integrate your knowledge of basic sciences, WOLFPACC helps medical students to put a clinical understanding to the task at hand and to enjoy a successful medical career.
Dr. Hans Wolf saw the need for developing USMLE preparation courses that focused on the common links between organ systems, so medical students become physicians with a better understanding of the whole patient rather than a single presenting sign or symptom. By integrating the five main organ systems through physiology, WOLFPACC’s “Power 5” methodology provides an innovative way for students to prepare for taking the USMLE or COMLEX licensing exams.
Dr. Wolf strongly believes in your dream of becoming a confident clinical physician and empowers you with the information, tools, and skills to achieve much more than a pass/fail grade on Step 1 of the USMLE. By helping you master the concepts of practicing medicine rather than just memorizing bits and pieces of the basic sciences, our staff looks forward to making you our next success story. Connect with us now and start focusing on the “how and why” of practicing medicine.
Currently you are able to, as it is an open mic presentation. If the background noise from students in attendance becomes too distracting, microphones will be disabled. Then for one hour following each lecture, the instructor will have an open mic session for students on-line to ask questions on the material presented that day.
We highly recommend that all students start a program on their designated start date. However, we will accept students off-cycle but only when there is a USMLE or COMLEX training spot available and you are signing up for an 8 week session.
If you are registering for the 4 week on-line program, you are permitted to start off cycle.
The on-line program is only offered for the four week enrollment.
