No matter your financial resources, one thing is for sure – medical school is pricey. But thanks to a generous donor, the first 60 students enrolled at a new Fort Worth medical school, a partnership between Texas Christian University and the University of North Texas Health Science Center, will receive free tuition covering their first year.

Dubbed the H. Paul Dorman Charter Scholarship Program, the fund is named in honor of the chairman and CEO of Fort Worth-based DFB Pharmaceuticals. Officials won’t disclose the full amount of the donation, but it’s speculated to be upward of $3 million or more. That’s based on estimates that tuition will run more than $50,000 a year.

“I understand the need for exceptionally trained physicians and I believe the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine team is creating the right formula to prepare students to practice medicine in the future,” Dorman wrote in a media release. “This school will change the medical and economic landscape of our community and I can’t wait to meet the students who will make up the first class.”
